Frequently Asked Questions

What is AutoPatent?
AutoPatent is an AI-assisted patent research and drafting aid. For 11 major patent offices it searches official bibliographic records (via the European Patent Office's Open Patent Services); for other offices it provides clearly labeled AI-assisted references. It helps you screen prior art and refine your description — it is not legal advice.
How many free searches do I get?
Every registered user receives 5 free patent searches and 5 free optimizations. After that, you can purchase credit packages or subscribe for unlimited access.
Which countries are supported?
You can search across 17 patent offices including China (CNIPA), United States (USPTO), European Patent Office (EPO), Japan (JPO), South Korea (KIPO), WIPO (PCT), and more. Official bibliographic records are available for 11 of them (US, EP, WO, JP, KR, CN, DE, GB, FR, CA, AU); the rest use clearly labeled AI-assisted analysis.
How accurate is the patent matching?
For offices with official data, results are real bibliographic records ranked by text-based relevance. In AI-assisted mode, references are recalled by the DeepSeek model from its training data and may be incomplete or outdated. Either way, results are a first-pass screening aid — always consult a patent attorney before filing.
Are my patent ideas kept confidential?
Yes. We do not store your search queries or invention descriptions on our servers. All processing happens through secure API calls and is not retained after your session.
How does the Optimize feature work?
The Optimize feature uses AI to rewrite your patent description, emphasizing novel aspects and using alternative terminology to differentiate from existing patents. It provides itemized explanations for each change.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept payments through Paddle, supporting credit cards, PayPal, and other major payment methods worldwide.
Can I cancel my subscription?
Yes, you can cancel your monthly subscription at any time. Your access will continue until the end of the current billing period.
